Our Story

Fishing came into my life a little later than most — about eight years ago, I decided to give it a try, and I instantly fell in love. It wasn’t long before this passion led me to work on the boats out of Whitstable, an incredible experience that I’ll always treasure.

Even back then, my eldest son, Connor, who was just eight years old, would join me on those long 18-hour shifts. He loved every minute of it, and I loved seeing his excitement. Soon, our shared love of fishing extended to rod and reel trips from the beach. It wasn’t about competing or taking it seriously — it was about fresh air, laughter, and the thrill of chasing that “big one” that was always out there waiting for us. Fishing became our favourite way to spend time together.

Life, as it often does, got in the way, and we ended up with over a year without going fishing. During that time, I felt something was missing, and Connor, navigating the teenage years, was also finding himself a little lost. That’s when we decided to return to the water and reignite our love of sea fishing — and Tides and Tribe was born. We started a YouTube channel to share our adventures, our ups and downs, and the simple joy of being out on the sea together.

Now, our passion for fishing has become more than a pastime — it’s becoming a way of life. To keep doing what we love most, we realized we needed a way to fund our adventures. That’s why we created this website: a place to share our journey, provide the gear and resources other anglers need, and connect with the wider fishing community.

Tides and Tribe isn’t just about fishing — it’s about the joy, the therapy, and the memories that come with it. It’s going to take time to grow, but with the love we have for the sea, the thrill of the catch, and the bond we share, we know it will be an adventure worth taking.
