We’d only been back from Portugal for a few days when me and Connor headed down to Walmer Beach for our first UK session since the trip. The holiday blues were definitely still hanging around, so we were hoping the Kent coast might produce something to cheer us up!

Fishing was fairly quiet, but Connor managed a small eel and a spider crab, while I hooked a small eel that came off on the stones and quickly made its own way back into the sea — I’m still counting it! 😂 I also managed a spider crab.

We fished the flood tide in sunshine with a light breeze, using a mixture of baits on 3-hook flappers with size 2/0 hooks and pennel rigs with 3/0 hooks. Conditions started nicely before the weed arrived later in the session and made things a little more difficult.
Nothing spectacular on the catch front, but after being away it was genuinely good to be back fishing our local coastline together again.
