Tankerton | Fishing The Slopes 18th September 2025
Me and Connor headed over to the Tankerton Slopes on the North Kent coast for a session, joined by our friends Aaron and Rhys who came along to give it a go too. None of us had fished before at this spot, so we were all curious to see what it had to offer. The evening started with that familiar excitement of setting up rods, rigs, and baits, with the sound of the waves breaking against the pebbles setting the perfect backdrop.
Things kicked off quickly thanks to Aaron. In what’s becoming a bit of a running joke, he managed to haul in yet another ray — he seems to land one almost every time we see him! True to form, Aaron wasn’t interested in keeping it for the table, so I happily claimed the freebie for myself. Rays are one of my absolute favourites, so it was a real bonus to start the night.
For me and Connor, the fishing wasn’t hectic, but it was steady enough to keep us smiling and paying attention to our rods. Connor got into the action first, landing a few lively little bass that gave him a good fight for their size. He finished up with 3 baby bass, which kept him busy through the evening. As for me, I managed 2 baby bass of my own and a single dogfish to round things off. Nothing massive, but enough to keep the buzz alive and make it a good session.

It turned into one of those nights that summed up what fishing is really about — a bit of sport on the rods, some laughs and banter with friends, and the calm of being by the sea. Tankerton itself is a lovely stretch of coast, and while we didn’t unlock its full potential this time, there’s definitely more to be had here. Both me and Connor agreed that it’s a spot we’ll be heading back to soon, hopefully for something a little bigger next time.
