A Christmas Message from Tides & Tribe
As we come to the close of 2025 and enter the Christmas season, we wanted to take a moment to speak from the heart.
Tides & Tribe began just six months ago as nothing more than a bit of fun between me and Connor—a father and son spending time outdoors, mainly sea fishing, enjoying the simple things that nature gives us. What we never expected was the incredible support, kindness, and encouragement that followed. Every like, comment, message, and subscription has meant more to us than we can properly put into words.
This journey has been an absolute adventure, and we have genuinely loved every second of it. As we head into the new year, we’re incredibly excited about what’s ahead. We already have loads of great content planned and, thanks to your support, we’ve made the decision to expand and begin building our long-term vision of a true outdoor community in 2026.
None of this would have been possible without the people closest to us. A special thank you to Jenna, my partner, and to my other son Callum. The four of us are a unit, and their support behind the scenes has been unwavering. Tides & Tribe may be seen as me and Connor on camera, but it’s built on family.
As this year draws to a close, it would be dishonest not to acknowledge that it has also brought deep sadness. On the 20th of December, my brother Tom sadly lost his battle with cancer and passed away. Right now, everything surrounding this is still very raw and painful. In future videos, I may open up more about it, but for now, please understand why we’ve taken a pause from creating content.
The truth is, my brother and I weren’t very close over these past ten years, and there is a lot still unfolding around his passing. It appears he was badly neglected in the final months of his life, which is incredibly hard to come to terms with. I carry a deep regret for not being there when he needed me most—a feeling I don’t think will ever fully leave my heart.
If there is one message I hope carries through this Christmas, it’s this: please don’t leave yourself with regret. No matter how relationships change, no matter the disagreements or distance, be there for your loved ones. Life is painfully short, and in the end, all that truly matters is showing up for one another.
If you can, please take a moment this Christmas to raise a glass for Tom—and for all those who have passed before us. Be kind to each other. Don’t let small arguments steal years you can never get back. Be grateful for the moments you have and aim to live life as fully as you can.
We’ll be back in the new year—stronger, more focused, and more grateful than ever.
